Trade Acquisition Program (TAP)

Put your receivables data to work with TAP

TAP turns the accounts receivable aging you already produce each month into more useful credit oversight. Automate applicable group responses, monitor your customer portfolio, and use Credinet™ dashboards to see which accounts deserve a closer look.

TAP at a glance

  • You send your A/R aging electronically, normally once a month
  • Credinet answers applicable group requests from your submitted information
  • You get a portfolio dashboard, your ten highest-risk customers, and a dashboard for every account in your file
  • You decide what action to take. TAP supports your judgment; it does not replace it.

What TAP is

Less re-typing. More time for the accounts that matter.

Credit teams repeat the same work every month: looking up balances, answering trade requests, preparing for group meetings, and trying to decide which existing customers need attention. A credit check when you open an account can’t tell you what happens after.

The Trade Acquisition Program gives that routine a repeatable process. You supply your accounts receivable aging electronically, and Credinet puts it to work: supporting trade reporting, answering applicable group requests, and powering the dashboards and monitoring tools that help you stay on top of your portfolio.

A few plain-language terms. An aging report lists which customers owe you money and how long each balance has been outstanding. A tradeline is one supplier’s reported payment experience with a customer. Credinet is the online platform where Credifax members access credit information, exchanges and dashboards.

TAP is a strong fit for suppliers, wholesalers, distributors and other businesses that sell to other businesses on credit and have an ongoing list of credit customers, including our members in construction, industrial supply, electrical and plumbing wholesale, trucking and heavy equipment, and food and advertising.

How it works

Three steps, repeated each month

TAP runs on a monthly contribution. It is not a live link to your accounting system, so current information from you is what keeps it useful.

Review your export with us

Start with what your current accounting system can already export. We review your aging report and, if needed, your customer details file, then set up a repeatable TAP file for your layout. You don’t need to change systems.

Submit your aging each month

Send the agreed file on your monthly schedule. Accurate customer names, addresses, phone numbers and account references help Credinet connect each record to the right business.

Review, monitor and act

Credinet uses your contribution for applicable group responses, monitoring and your dashboards. You review the highlighted accounts and decide the next step: a call, a trade update, or a look at credit terms.

The advantages

Why members contribute through TAP

Less repetitive reporting

Applicable group requests are answered from the information you’ve already submitted, so your team spends less time looking up and typing the same balances.

Consistent participation

Keep contributing even when your team is busy, away or changing roles. Your payment experience keeps working within the applicable exchange process.

Visibility after credit is granted

Customers change after you approve them. Ongoing monitoring and dashboard reviews give you more chances to look into an account before your exposure grows.

A clear place to start

Your biggest balance and your riskiest customer aren’t always the same account. The portfolio view and highest-risk list help you decide where to begin.

Broader payment context

You know how a customer pays you. Payment experience from other contributors can show whether they’re falling behind elsewhere, within your access and the matched information available.

A stronger exchange

Every current contribution adds to the shared information base, which improves what participating members can learn about the customers they have in common.

New with the 2026 Credinet update

See where your attention is needed

Monthly TAP contributors get portfolio monitoring and scoring, plus dashboards that take you from your whole customer base down to a single account.

Portfolio

Portfolio dashboard

Review your submitted customer base alongside available risk indicators, understand where your receivables stand, and open the accounts that need a closer look.

Priorities

Your ten highest-risk customers

A short list of the customers that most warrant review, based on the available scoring information. Think of it as your starting point, especially after time away from the desk.

Accounts

Individual customer dashboards

Every account in your TAP file has its own dashboard, so you can move from the big picture to a specific customer’s information and risk context, then decide your next step.

Scores flag accounts for review. A high score isn’t proof of insolvency or an instruction to stop selling; it’s a signal to look at the information and your own circumstances.

Monitoring and alerts

Information that’s about your customers

Because Credinet knows which businesses are in your TAP file, monitoring, alerts and bulletins can focus on the customers you actually deal with. That makes it easier to spot the notices that deserve your attention.

Scores respond to new information such as updated trade experience, collection claims, legal actions and other derogatory information. Your monthly submission keeps your own payment experience current.

  • Ongoing monitoring of your customer portfolio, based on the information available to Credinet
  • Targeted alerts on reported returned payments, collection activity and legal matters involving your customers
  • More relevant bulletins, connected to the businesses in your portfolio
  • Latest trade history visible when a matched customer is requested

Setup

We work with the files you already have

Every accounting system exports differently. We’ve set up TAP files from many different layouts, and the exact requirements are agreed during setup.

What Credifax does

  • Reviews your aging export and customer details
  • Combines customer details with aging balances where they come in separate files
  • Maps your aging periods to the TAP format
  • Cleans up account numbers, addresses, postal codes and phone numbers where the source allows
  • Handles multiple branches or companies when needed

What you do

  • Send complete, accurate exports each month
  • Help resolve customers that can’t be matched automatically
  • Let us know if your accounting system or export layout changes
  • Review your alerts and highest-risk accounts, and decide what action to take

Confidentiality

Your customer list stays your customer list

Your contribution supports commercial credit information. It is not provided to anyone as a sales list.

When your TAP payment experience appears in a file report, it identifies your industry rather than your company name. Taking part in a credit group exchange works differently and has its own visibility rules, and contributing TAP information to file reports doesn’t by itself mean your accounts are shared in an online group exchange.

We’ll walk you through exactly how your contribution and any group participation work during setup. For more, see our privacy policy.

TAP questions

Do we need to change accounting systems?

No. Start with what your existing system can export. We’ll review the format and tell you what preparation is needed. The amount of setup depends on your actual files.

Is TAP completely hands-free?

Not completely. TAP automates applicable reporting and group responses, but you still send updated aging each month and help with the occasional exception. A monthly contribution is not the same as a live link to your accounting system.

What happens if a customer can’t be matched?

The record may need a quick review so it can be connected to the right business. A failed match doesn’t mean you’ve never dealt with that customer. Accurate names, addresses and phone numbers make matching more reliable.

Will competitors receive our customer list?

No. Your list is not provided as a sales list, and TAP payment experiences in file reports identify your industry rather than your company name. Group exchange participation has its own visibility rules, which we explain during setup.

Does a high risk score mean we should stop selling to a customer?

No. A score flags an account for review. Look at the available information and your own circumstances before deciding what to do.

Does TAP include every report?

No. TAP supports ongoing payment-information exchange and monitoring. New bank inquiries, corporate checks and investigative reports are separate services with their own terms. See our reporting services.

Can we contribute without joining an online exchange group?

That arrangement is possible in some cases. We’ll confirm the right setup and benefits for your business when we talk.
