About Credifax

What is Credifax?

Credifax Atlantic Limited is a Canadian commercial credit bureau based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Founded in 1997, it helps businesses that sell on credit to assess, monitor and collect from their commercial customers through credit reports, industry credit groups, collections and its online platform, Credinet™.

Is Credifax a credit bureau or a collection agency?

Both. Credifax is a licensed credit bureau that provides commercial credit reporting and credit group services, and it also offers commercial collection services, including free Final Demand notices for subscribers and contingency-based collection placements.

Where does Credifax operate?

Credifax is headquartered at 800 Windmill Road, Suite 300, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, with deep roots in Atlantic Canada. Through partners in Ontario and Western Canada, Credifax customers can get commercial credit reports from across Canada on Credinet, and Credifax is growing its credit group network in Western Canada.

Who leads Credifax?

Credifax was founded by Rodger D. Noel, B. Comm., CCP (Emeritus). Amanda L. Anderson, B. Comm., CCP, is President, and Christopher D. Noel is Manager, Customer Care and a Partner. Meet the team.

Credinet and credit groups

What is Credinet?

Credinet™ is Credifax’s online credit exchange and reporting platform, operating since 2001. Members use it to order credit reports, exchange trade experience with their industry credit group, receive alerts, and review risk scores and dashboards. Credinet is a registered trademark of Credifax Atlantic Limited.

What is a credit group?

A credit group is a members-only exchange where suppliers in the same industry share payment experience on customers they have in common. Credifax runs credit groups online through Credinet and through sit-down credit group meetings.

Which industries does Credifax serve?

Credifax credit groups and services cover construction and building supply, heavy equipment, trucking service and supply, electrical, plumbing and heating wholesale, industrial supply, and food service and advertising, among others.

What changed in the 2026 Credinet update?

A rebuilt Credinet platform launched in July 2026 with simplified navigation, risk scoring, real-time alerts, and portfolio and customer dashboards. Existing usernames and passwords carried over.

How does Credinet credit scoring work?

Credit applications on Credinet are scored using trade information from suppliers, including supplier confidence, negative occurrences, aging information and trend. Scores update as new information arrives and are meant to flag accounts for review. A score is not a probability of default or an instruction to stop selling.

What is a free reciprocal report?

When a group member replies to a Credinet group trade request, they receive free access to the consolidated trade credit report on that subject.

What is Master Search?

Master Search is a free Credinet feature that searches the business background of directors and officers named on a credit application, identifies potentially related companies, and can search for related businesses by phone number.

TAP (Trade Acquisition Program)

What is TAP?

TAP stands for Trade Acquisition Program. Members send their accounts receivable aging to Credifax electronically, normally once a month. Credinet uses it to answer applicable credit group requests, support trade reporting, and power portfolio monitoring and dashboards. Learn about TAP.

What dashboards do TAP contributors get?

Monthly TAP contributors receive portfolio monitoring and scoring, a list of their ten highest-risk customers, and an individual dashboard for each account in their TAP file.

Do I need to change accounting systems to use TAP?

No. Credifax starts with what your existing accounting system can already export and sets up a repeatable TAP file for your layout. The amount of setup depends on your actual files.

Will competitors see my customer list if I contribute to TAP?

No. Your customer list is not provided as a sales list, and TAP payment experiences shown in file reports identify your industry rather than your company name. Credit group participation has its own visibility rules, which Credifax explains during setup.

Commercial credit reports

What credit reports does Credifax provide?

Credifax provides full investigative reports, file reports and updates, bank reports for Canada and the U.S., incorporation and officer information, corporate verifications, public records and insolvency searches, construction project reports, business principal reports, PPR/PPSA searches and U.S. commercial reports. See all reports.

Can Credifax provide credit reports on U.S. companies?

Yes. U.S. commercial reports on over 10 million companies are available within minutes of a request during regular business hours.

What is a PPSA search?

A PPSA (Personal Property Security Act) or PPR search checks the provincial Personal Property Registries, where lenders and suppliers record their financial interest in personal property such as vehicles, equipment and boats. Credifax conducts these searches online.

Commercial collections

How does Credifax collect overdue commercial accounts?

Credifax offers three options: a free 10-day Final Demand notice for subscribers, customized collection letter programs for high volumes of small balances, and the Direct Listing System, where trained specialists take immediate action on a placed account. Commission applies only to payments received after placement, so if you don’t get paid, Credifax doesn’t get paid.

How do I place a collection claim?

Download the commercial or consumer claim form from the Collections page and send it to the Collection Division, or call 902-450-5330.

Why use a credit bureau for collections?

Because Credifax is a credit bureau, claims placed for collection may be reflected on the debtor’s credit report and credit score, which other suppliers can see. That gives customers one more reason to pay.

Pricing and other services

How much does Credifax cost?

Credifax offers Pay-As-You-Go pricing for occasional users and a Preferred Customer Discount Program with volume-based discounts for regular users. Prices depend on the services you need, so contact Credifax for a quote. See price plans.

What happens to unused prepaid funds?

Under the Preferred Customer Discount Program guarantee, any unused service in your prepaid account at year-end is credited against your renewal invoice at the same service class.

What is ARMS?

ARMS, the Assisted Receivables Management Service, provides trained collection professionals on a short or long-term basis to companies with staffing shortages. ARMS staff work remotely and follow customer communication scripts that you approve in advance.

Does Credifax offer credit training or consulting?

Yes. Credifax offers seminars and workshops for groups of 15 or fewer, customized on-site training, and a free receivables evaluation that reviews your credit-to-cash process. Training and consulting.

Is my information kept confidential?

Yes. Credifax is a licensed credit bureau and is compliant with PIPEDA. Credit group information is available only to members of that group, and Credifax does not sell personal information. Read our privacy policy.
